About Us

In the industry of paper product manufacturing, Akar Limited has acquired more than 3 decades of experience. Initially, we were a small enterprises by the name of "Print-Akar" and we used to only source print. At present, we are one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of a wide range of Books and other Stationery items that are divided into four categories viz Printing, Promotion, Stationery, and Publication.

Some of our products are Note Books, Multicolor Printed Cubes, Exercise Books, Calenders, Drawing Books, Dairies, Memos, Address Books, Shopping Lists, Legal Pads, Paper Napkins, Floral Pads, Guest Book, and many others. In addition to these products, we possess over 20 years of experience in the segment of Promotional Products for the Pharmaceutical Industry. Till date, we have successfully developed and marketed over 1000 customized products. In addition, we have also printed numerous Medical Books that cover the entire Human Anatomy. Furthermore, all the news and information concerning the latest medical research & development are printed in journals for the medical fraternity.

Our first factory started in 1984 in Mumbai that had only the basic machines and equipments. Leveraging on the good performance of this factory, we developed a 25000 sq. ft factory in 1993, in Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Moving ahead, we created another manufacturing facility in the year 2002-2003, of 40000 sq. ft for the development of Stationery Items for school, home and office use. In the same year, we ventured into the international market by launching our products in Hong Kong, Germany and United Kingdom.

Our Company Facts

  • All the needed raw‐material like paper, board, art card, inks, plastic components, adhesives, binding & packaging materials and consumables are available easily.
  • We have entered into annual agreements with most of the paper & board mills for round the year supply at specially negotiated price.
  • Our factory is near National Highway No. 8 and Western Railways prominent station Vapi, therefore transportation of material to our factory is simple.
  • We have constructed more than 14,000 sq.ft. A‐Class godown facility to store raw materials and finished goods. These fire and flood proof godowns can protect the material from the humid climate also.
  • The company has a high tension supply line with a sanctioned load of 350 kva which is adequate to take care of its present and future requirements.
  • A separate transformer and stand‐by generator of 150 kva is also installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • We have taken special steps to stabilize the power supply to our electronic and computerized machines to minimize the damage caused by fluctuation in power supply from the main grid.

Our History

After its incorporation in 1976 and till the year 1986, Akar Limited operated similar to an outsourcing firm that was into getting jobs printed at different printing presses. The further journey of the company is as follows:

1987

The company took its root as a corporate entity, when it was incorporated as Akar Print & Pack Pvt. Ltd. During the same year it set up its own production facilities.

1994

The company was converted as a closely held limited company. To keep pace with the growth the need for professionalism of the management was felt, it was decided to invite professionals on the Board of Directors of the company.

1995

The company shifted production base to Silvassa, Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

This was necessary to facilitate the expansion plans and to avail fiscal benefits offered by the Government of India.

1997

A dormitory with canteen facility was set up in a separate premises measuring 8,000 sq.ft. area. to provide free lodging and boarding facility to all our 100+ workers, supervisors & managers.

2000

It was the year of information technology and dotcom revolution was taking place. We too, decided to take a plunge in this revolution by creating an ultra‐modern creative studio. Since then, we are providing contents and creative graphics to our Pharmaceutical clients.

2002

We established an ultra modern Corporate & Marketing office at its present premises at Laxmi Plaza, Laxmi Industrial Estate, New Link Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai.

Office : Product range includes Writing Note Pads, Spiral Pads, Double Wiro‐O‐Pads, Cube Block, Address Books, Legal Pads. Etc.

Gift : For household use, we manufacture eye catching paper products for day to day use. The range includes Floral Pads, Multicolour Printed Cubes, Calendars, Diaries, Memos, Reminders, Shopping List, Paper Napkins, Guest Books etc.

Publication

Medical Books covering complete Human Anatomy. Latest Medical Research and Developments are printed in the form of Books, Journals or Articles for medical fraternity. We use latest generation Scanners, Image Setters and Outputting and Proofing Devices.

This assists us in adding value to the promotions of products of our clients. In our company, all activities from designing to printing are integrated in one umbrella. All the important production processes are tabulated below:

Designing

In our design unit, we create concepts which are ideal for every promotional requirement and product / brand identities. Here, we also work in newer areas of promotions such as multimedia modules & audiovisual presentations for catering to the varied needs of our customers and create better brand awareness.

Pre‐Press

Creo’s complete digital workflow i.e. High‐resolution Scanning, Page‐layout and assembly, ripping and output on drum imagesetter works seamlessly and gives ready‐to‐use positives in a short time.

Printing

Our printing unit at Silvassa‐Dadra, set amidst beautiful green surroundings, boasts of ultra‐modern, technically superior printing machines, imported from the very best companies.

Finishing

We are equipped with latest technology in the field of UV coating and Wet and Dry Lamination for giving special effects to print and promotion jobs.

Post‐Press

Our binding capability is a rare combination of human skills and technology. We have more than 150 specially trained contract workers who very skillfully work with latest machines imported from UK, Germany, USA and Italy.

Infrastructural Setup

We possess a robust infrastructural setup, which includes corporate office, creative studio, factory buildings, godowns and residential accommodation. Our corporate office is spread over 2300 sq. ft. area and is located at Laxmi Plaza, Laxmi Industrial Estate, New Link Road, Andheri (W), that is also the center of our marketing as well as financial activities. Our creative studio is located in same premises and is integrated with latest software programme and hardware. It is manged by a team of young minds that are supervised by a Creative Director. This studio provides innovative concepts for the promotions and campaigns that are launched by a number of pharmaceutical companies.

There are 2 factory buildings known as Unit I and Unit II in our infrastructural setup. Unit I is a 3 storied structure that covers over 27,000 sq.ft. floor area. It is a free‐hold property and is developed on the plot of 1700 sq. mtr., at Silvassa, Dadra (Union Territory). This factory is integrated with all the modern production facilities to carry out all the procedures starting from pre‐production plate making to printing, finishing, binding, etc. Unit II is also a storied building spread over 15,000 sq. ft floor area.

Our infrastructural setup also includes:

Godowns

5 storage godowns with a total built up area of 14,000 sq. ft. located on a plot measuring 2000 sq. mtrs., adjacent to the factory building at Silvassa, to store raw material, consumables and finished goods.

Residential accommodation

The company has adequate residential facilities for its supervisory staff in Dadra. To cater to the needs of comfortable stay of visiting clients and our directors, the company has also constructed residential apartment on the roof terrace of the existing factory building.

The backbone of our company is the team of qualified, and skilled professionals including engineers, managers, technicians, quality auditors, and many others. They work in coordination with each other to offer that something special to our customers, more than their expectations. All our personnel managed separate activities like planning, creation, production, marketing, finance and management.
